Three years after Vera Laska joined the Czechoslovak underground railroad, she was arrested at the age of fifteen and sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau as a political prisoner.  Throughout her testimony, Vera engagingly describes her refusal to feel powerless despite overwhelming adversity.
