Students can now get even more creative with their IWitness Information Quests.

The Information Quest is a brief activity designed for students to view testimony clips about a specific survivor or topic. Students engage with their assigned story using a built-in tool that enables each to create a word cloud, a fitting title, a meaningful quotation, and a personal response to reflect individual feelings and perceptions about the story. To culminate the activity, students post their completed Information Quests to discuss with their classmates.

During the Information Quest activity, students are prompted to choose words they feel best represent the themes of the testimony clips they have watched in the activity. Students give each word a different size and color.  The individual words each students choose contribute to an overall, class-wide “Word Cloud.”

Previously, the group word clouds could not be customized, nor could they downloaded as a final work product.  Now, teachers and students can use several tools to change the colors, size, and font of the words generated by IWitness.  They can also choose from five different shapes to arrange the word cloud artistically. Finally, they have the option of downloading the finished product.

“Empowering student and teacher creativity is a hallmark of our work in the education department, and we look forward to seeing how the new and improved tools in IWitness help foster that creative spirit,” said Senior Trainer/Content Specialist Lesly Culp.
