Lili Meier describes how she found a photo album, which has become known as the Auschwitz Album, in a deserted SS barracks on the day she was liberated from the Dora concentration camp. The Auschwitz Album is the only known collection of photographs taken by the Nazi SS at Auschwitz-Birkenau. This testimony clip is featured in the IWitness activity Arrival at Auschwitz – Images and Individual Experiences.

One hundred educators recently attended Lessons of the Holocaust and Contemporary Russia, a three-day seminar in Kaliningrad organized by the Russian Research and Holocaust Education Center.  Svetlana Gorbacheva, an educator who has visited the Institute and created an educational lesson which incorporates testimony, modeled the lesson during the seminar.Album posted on:  December 19, 2008

The preservation of one of the largest digital video archives in the world got underway the Fall of 2008 at the USC Shoah Foundation Institute, where staff began converting more than 100,000 hours of videotaped Holocaust testimonials to a new digital format.Album posted on:  December 17, 2008

On November 3, 2011, the University of Athens gained access to the Institute's Visual History Archive.  As part of the launch, the University hosted a workshop led by Andrea Szőnyi, the Institute's Regional Consultant in Hungary, who gave a presentation on the history of the Institute and the scope of its regional activities; and Verena Nagel, Project Manager of the Multimedia Archive at Freie Universität Berlin's Center for Digital Systems.  The workshop continued on November 4 with hands-on training on the use of the archive.Album posted on:  November 9, 2011

McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, has become the first site in Canada with access to the Institute's Visual History Archive (press release).  The University hosted an event on November 3 to celebrate the launch of the archive; Branko Lustig, an Oscar-winning film producer and Holocaust survivor whose life story is preserved in the archive, spoke at the event.Album posted on:  November 7, 2011
