Jared McBride earned his Ph.D. in History at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he studied ethnic diversity and mass violence in Nazi-occupied Volhynia, Ukraine, during the Second World War. His work specializes in the regions of Russia, Ukraine, and Eastern Europe in the 20th century and research interests include borderland studies, nationalist movements, mass violence and genocide, the Holocaust, inter-ethnic conflict, and war crimes prosecution. Simone Gigliotti earned her Ph.D. in History from the University of Melbourne, Australia, where she focused her research on the psychological and interpersonal consequences of forced migration and displacement of marginalized populations during the Holocaust. Her research interests concern the causes, processes and effects of state-sponsored, ethnic and religious violence, especially as it relates to the forced movement and confinement of Jewish and non-Jewish survivors in and from Europe from the 1930s to the 1950s.
