Amy Marczewski Carnes, PhD, completed her doctorate in French at UCLA in 2007 and worked at Human Rights Watch in Los Angeles before starting at USC Shoah Foundation in 2008.  Since then, she has overseen educational projects throughout Europe, curated two exhibitions of testimony, and taught a course at USC titled Rebuilding Rwanda:  Memory, Testimony, and Living Together after Genocide.  In her current role, she oversees evaluation of all Institute programs.

Michael Russell is a lead web developer at USC Shoah foundation. He received a BA in French from University College London, England, and has been a software engineer in the Los Angeles area since 1983.

Jeffrey Langham oversees the management and the strategic development of the Institute's website. Prior to the Institute, Jeffrey worked at a Los Angeles-area design firm for seven years as a web designer/programmer with experience in print design and copywriting. He received his doctorate in English literature from the University of Southern California.

Having been at the Institute for 24 years, Kim Simon is currently involved in developing and scaling the Institute’s impact and reach globally. She directs the development and implementation of key public engagement programs that connect USC Shoah Foundation to its many distinct audiences.

Lesly Culp is an ELA National Board Certified teacher who holds both her B.A. in English, Language and Literature and her Master’s in Education, Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Southern California.

With the Institute since 1996, Karen has led an international and multilingual staff to successfully catalog and index the archive and has been instrumental in developing the indexing and cataloging methodology and software applications.

Sam Gustman has been chief technology officer (CTO) of the Shoah Foundation since 1994 and was responsible for overseeing the 2006 move of the foundation’s archives from Universal Studios to the USC. He has been with ITS since 2006. Gustman is also associate dean at the USC Libraries, where he holds a faculty appointment. He is in charge of IT for the Libraries where he has also started the USC Digital Repository.
