On October 22, 2008, Steven Spielberg, Honorary Chair of the USC Shoah Foundation Institute, presented this year's Ambassadors for Humanity Award to legendary actor and humanitarian Kirk Douglas.  Douglas was recognized for his long history of support to humanitarian causes.The special evening was also an opportunity for the Institute to announce a series of new global initiatives that will transform the way it carries out its educational mission.Album posted on:  January 7, 2009

On February 7, 2012, from 10 a.m.to 4 p.m., the USC Shoah Foundation hosted an event entitled Witness and Responsibility, in the Doheny Memorial Library.  The day-long event focused on artistic work that engages with catastrophe and events—personal and world-wide—which challenge our sense of how things ought to be.  The event was a part of the Association for Jewish Theatre's four-day international conference in Los Angeles, Reflecting and Shaping a Shifting World.

In January 2015, I traveled to Poland for the Auschwitz: Past is Present professional development program, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau. This entire experience, was and continues to be a life changing event for me on every level personally, professionally, and academically.

USC Shoah Foundation – The Institute for Visual History and Education was among the participating organizations at an open house for the USC-Max Kade Institute, home of the university’s German Studies and European Studies programs. The open house took place on April 12, 2013. Guests watched testimony at a computer station connected via Wi-Fi to the Foundation’s Visual History Archive, which is available at USC and more than 40 other institutions around the world.

On Sept. 10 at a fund-raising gala at The Henry Ford museum, film maker Steven Spielberg will present the 2015 "Ambassador for Humanity" award to Bill Ford, executive chairman of Ford Motor, on behalf of the USC Shoah Foundation, which uses visual testimonies from survivors to educate people about the Holocaust and other genocides.

More than 100 Auschwitz survivors from at least 17 countries will travel to Poland to participate in the observance of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi German concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz on 27 January 2015, on the occasion of International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The official event will be organized by the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum and the International Auschwitz Council. The World Jewish Congress and the USC Shoah Foundation – The Institute for Visual History and Education will be among the organizations supporting this commemorative event.
