Johanna Lehr holds a doctorate in political science from the University of Paris 1 Sorbonne, a professional master's degree in adult psychopathology from the University of Paris 7 and a law degree from the University of Strasbourg. Dr. Lehr has received post-doctoral fellowships from the Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah and the Fondation du Judaïsme Français in Paris. She has also worked for Yahad-In Unum, a French organization that raises awareness of the sites of mass executions of Jews and Roma by Nazi extermination units in Eastern Europe during the Second World War. Her earlier work focused on the burial processes of Jews who died in the Drancy internment camp, in order to understand the function of Jewish funeral companies in Paris at that time. More recently, her research has focused on documenting the French judicial persecution of Jewish men and women in the capital. Her latest publication focuses on the role of the Dépôt de la Préfecture de Police de Paris in anti-Jewish persecution during the Occupation. She is currently writing a book on the sites of "ordinary" daily persecution of Jews in Paris.
