Temporary – Education Coordinator

Job Description

The Education Department at USC Shoah Foundation works to bring testimony-based education programming, multimedia resources and digital tools to educators and students worldwide that support them in attaining curricular outcomes and promoting the capacity to counter hate in the world. As such, the Education Coordinator plays a key role in helping oversee the successful completion of project, events and ensures programs are successfully coordinated in a dynamic Department that works globally, across multiple time zones, with diverse people and within an environment of competing priorities.

Their duties include performing specialized tasks, managing a team of staff members and establishing relationships with vendors and freelance professionals. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest in working closely within teams, ability to communicate, demonstrate sensitivity and good judgment, a background in office and project management, communications, and editing. The Education Coordinator reports to the Head of Content Management and would be required to work on-site.

Job Duties Include:

  • Attendance
    • Report to job site Monday – Friday at USC Shoah Foundation located on the main campus on the 4th floor of the Leavy Library
  • Coordinate Logistics and Office Management
    • Coordinate logistics for programs and other events (e.g. locating and confirming space, catering, materials, managing purchase orders etc.)
    • Manage the procurement, organization and tracking of promotional collaterals and office equipment
    • Coordinate with operations team to ensure to policies and processes
    • Establish and maintain relationships with external vendors
    • Work with content specialists on team to ensure all program or event requirements are met
  • Project management assistance
    • Assist in maintaining all aspects of programs updated and accessible to various audiences via established processes, project management tools and workflows (e.g. develop spreadsheets, Smartsheets, etc.)
  • Communications
    • Write internal/external communications (e.g. digital newsletters, reports, email communications, social media posting, meeting agendas, etc.) for various audiences/purposes: educator network, internal/external stakeholders, vendors
    • Verbally communicate with various audiences and purpose, including team members, supervisor/leadership, external vendors, partners, educators, students (occasional) and new/potential audiences via outreach work
  • Outreach
    • Conduct outreach to new and existing stakeholders (e.g. educators, students, decision-makers) for sharing information, request information/feedback and general communication to maintain relationships and connections
    • Be knowledgeable of Education department program plans, initiatives, strategy
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.


Required Knowledge, Characteristics and Skills (*Must be clearly demonstrated in application materials)

  • 2 years (3 preferred) minimum work experience in at least two of the following areas:
    • Non-profit management
    • Event coordination/management
    • Office management
    • Communications
    • Budgeting
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to work closely within cross-functional teams
  • Research skills (e.g. online, databases, etc.)
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Sensitivity and good judgement
  • Ability to use multiple types of software and tools (e.g. Excel, Smartsheet, Salesforce, One Drive, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop work/implementations plans
  • Cross-cultural competency
  • Interest and commitment to equity and justice issues
  • Bilingual competency a plus
  • Autonomous, self-directed and proactive

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills


  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 2 years of directly-related work experience/3 years preferred
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong project management assistance skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word Suite required
  • Demonstrated digital literacy and knowledge
