Educational Programming

  • 2012: USC Shoah Foundation organized a symposium for educators and leaders of partner organizations in Rwanda and South Africa on July 25 and 26. The symposium, titled Teaching, Testimony, and Transformation: Global Landscapes, centered on the educational use of Holocaust and genocide survivor testimony in the classroom setting.

Academic Programming

  • Sean Field, Professor of History of Cape Town was Senior Fellow Fall 2012. He explored oral histories in the context of both the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Centre for Popular Memory in South Africa and approaches to studying memories of violence.

Conferences and Workshops

  • 2016: Stephen Smith presents New Dimensions in Testimony at Remembering the Holocaust and Genocide in the Digital Age at the Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre.
