Call for Applications: Robert J. Katz Research Fellowship in Antisemitism Studies, 2026-2027

The Programs Division at the USC Shoah Foundation invites applications for its Robert J. Katz Research Fellowship in Antisemitism Studies during the 2026-2027 academic year.

One applicant will be chosen to pursue their original research on historical or contemporary antisemitism using the USC Shoah Foundation’s Visual History Archive (VHA), which currently holds over 60,000 video testimonies of survivors and witnesses of the Holocaust and other genocides and a growing collection of interviews about antisemitism since 1945. These interviews span diverse communities, regions, political contexts, and forms of persecution from acts of terrorism, displacement, and state-sponsored discrimination to bias in local communities and workplaces across sectors and decades.

The fellowship will provide $6,000 support and one year of access to the USC Shoah Foundation’s fully indexed testimony archive. The fellow is expected to spend at least one week in residency at the USC Shoah Foundation in Los Angeles or Washington, DC, where they will present their work.

Eligibility requirements: Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited master’s or doctoral program or have completed a master’s or doctoral degree no earlier than 2022. We welcome candidates from all academic disciplines. Preference will be given to currently enrolled students.

Applications must be submitted no later than 5:00 PT on October 16, 2026, via the online portal. Complete applications consist of:

• Project proposal (no more than 1000 words)
• CV
• Reference letter directly addressing the feasibility of the proposed project
