Stephen Smith interviews Eva Schloss for New Dimensions in Testimony

New Dimensions in Testimony will be on display at the 2016 Sheffield Doc/Fest in Sheffield, England. The festival is one of the world’s largest gatherings of documentarians, filmmakers and multimedia storytellers.

USC Shoah Foundation Executive Director Stephen Smith will also give a keynote address at the festival. More details to come.

Sheffield Doc/Fest is a film festival comprising inspirational documentary films from across the globe; controversial discussion panels and in-depth filmmaker master classes; and a marketplace offering a unique way to pitch new and groundbreaking documentary projects. This year’s festival is June 10-15, 2016.

New Dimensions in Testimony, USC Shoah Foundation’s project using 3D filmmaking and natural language processing to enable virtual conversations with Holocaust survivors, will be displayed and demonstrated in the festival’s Alternate Realities interactive exhibition at Millennium Gallery. USC Shoah Foundation staff will be on hand to run the demo and answer any questions visitors have about the project.

To date, 12 survivors have been filmed for New Dimensions in Testimony, including Pinchas Gutter, Anita Lasker-Wallfisch, Eva Kor, Sam Harris and Eva Schloss. Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center was the first institution to pilot New Dimensions in Testimony in spring 2015, enabling museum visitors and students to have a virtual conversation with Pinchas Gutter with guidance from a museum docent.
