Liam Neeson will be attending USC Shoah Foundation – The Institute for Visual History and Education’s special 20th anniversary benefit screening of Schindler’s List that will be held in Philadelphia on Thursday, September 12. Neeson played the starring role of German industrialist Oskar Schindler in the film, for which he received an Academy Award nomination.

Marthe Cohn-Hoffnung remembers the liberation of Paris, France, in 1944, where she was living under false identity. She especially recalls the emotional response on the part of the French people upon seeing the French 2nd armored division, led by General Charles de Gaulle, march into Paris first. The United States armed forces followed shortly thereafter.

In this session moderated by Andrea Pető (Associate Professor, Gender Studies, Central European University), Robert Rozett, (Director of Yad Vashem Libraries) addresses problems that revolve around memory and reliability. He asks whether testimonies and memoirs bring us closer than other kinds of historical documents to understanding what people went through.

Kia Hays recently joined the research and documentation staff at USC Shoah Foundation as project specialist. She received a bachelor’s in English and international relations at Hawaii Pacific University in 2010 and a master’s in public diplomacy from the USC Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism in May 2013. Hays was the associate editor for the online publication PDiN Monitor at the USC Center on Public Diplomacy, and the editor-in-chief of the academic journal Public Diplomacy Magazine.
