The Role of Auschwitz in Holocaust Narratives Conference 2025 will bring together international scholars to explore how Auschwitz has shaped survivor testimonies and influenced collective memory.
Through four interdisciplinary panels, the conference will examine themes such as Auschwitz as a physical and gendered space, the cultural and linguistic frameworks in survivor narratives and how Auschwitz has been remembered across different communities. Scholars from North America and Europe will present their latest research on these vital topics.
USC Shoah Foundation Program Specialist Svetlana Ushakova will present Geographic Perception of Auschwitz in Survivor Memoirs and Testimonies in Panel 1.
Rooted in twenty years of the Azrieli Foundation’s Holocaust Survivor Memoirs Program, this conference will deepen our understanding of the significance of Auschwitz and the role of survivor stories in shaping Holocaust memory.
