Giving Tuesday Campaign Launches Tuesday, November 15
On last year’s Giving Tuesday, the USC Shoah Foundation community raised $7,000 to support programs and initiatives to help the Institute change the world through testimony. This November 29, USC Shoah Foundation is counting on you to help reach its goal of $10,000.
Giving Tuesday, a worldwide day of philanthropy, is observed the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, though USC Shoah Foundation will officially begin its Giving Tuesday campaign on Tuesday, November 15. There are several ways to get involved and support USC Shoah Foundation, whether you choose to give or not.
First, all are encouraged to use the hashtag #BeginsWithMe to show your support on social media. You will be able to download a #BeginsWithMe campaign card to fill out with your name and how testimony inspires you to make a difference; take a photo of yourself holding the card and share on your social media channels, encouraging friends and family to do the same.
You can also use a provided email template to explain to your contacts why you are supporting USC Shoah Foundation this Giving Tuesday and encouraging them to do the same. Feel free to copy and paste or adjust it as you see fit.
Watching testimony or registering for IWitness is also a great way to commemorate Giving Tuesday. The Giving Tuesday microsite will include several testimony clips on courage, action and the importance of standing up for tolerance that you are encouraged to share on social media. You can also subscribe to USC Shoah Foundation’s YouTube channel, view over 1,800 full testimonies on the Visual History Archive Online, or visit any of the 67 Visual History Archive access sites at museums and universities around the world.
Finally, consider donating by texting Testimony to 41444. All money raised through Giving Tuesday donations will go toward USC Shoah Foundation’s Annual Fund, which supports the Junior Intern program, ITeach educator trainings, visiting scholars’ lectures, USC interns and the collection of Holocaust survivor testimonies. USC Shoah Foundation hopes to raise $10,000 through the Giving Tuesday campaign, a $3,000 increase from last year.
Check the USC Shoah Foundation website on Tuesday, November 15 to explore the Giving Tuesday microsite and start contributing to this year’s #BeginsWithMe Giving Tuesday campaign.
