Yehuda Bauer to Visit USC Shoah Foundation in November

Renowned Holocaust historian Yehuda Bauer will visit USC Shoah Foundation – The Institute for Visual History and Education in November.

Bauer was the Institute’s 2012 Yom Hashoah Scholar-in-Residence and has consulted for the Institute on a variety of projects since the mid-1990s. He is an emeritus professor of history and Holocaust studies at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Bauer was awarded the highest civilian prize in Israel, the Israel Prize, in 1998 and has served as advisor to the Task Force for International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance, and Research, and the Swedish Government on the International Forum on Genocide Prevention.  

Bauer has published numerous books and articles about the Holocaust, including Out of the Ashes: The Impact of American Jews on Post-Holocaust European Jewry (1989) and The Impact of the Holocaust (1996). Bauer used testimonies from the Visual History Archive in researching his recent book The Death of the Shtetl (2009).
