It was directed by Steven Spielberg and stars Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes and Ben Kingsley. The film won Best Picture at the 1994 Academy Awards.

After completing the film, Spielberg founded the Shoah Foundation to record testimonies of Holocaust survivors. The Shoah Foundation, commemorating its 20th anniversary this year, now holds 52,000 testimonies of survivors of the Holocaust and other genocides. The testimonies were conducted in 58 countries and in 34 languages.
