This Juneteenth, Stronger Than Hate resources on IWitness
June 19, also known as Juneteenth, commemorates the day in 1865 when slavery ended in America - more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued by President Lincoln. It is a day of commemoration and celebration of African American history and heritage, but also a day of reflection.
To support students and deepen the understanding of the story surrounding racism and identity-based hate in the U.S., educators are encouraged to access our IWitness platform. Testimony of Holocaust survivors, liberators and other witnesses to genocide speak to the issues of racism, antisemitism and other identity-based hate, and the need for people of every generation and every community to be vigilant, resilient and hope-filled contributors in the shared quest for social justice and equity.
