The 2026 Daniel & Marisa Klass USC Shoah Foundation #LectureSeriesOnAntisemitism, hosted by Dr. Brian Hughes, Director of the USC Shoah Foundation Countering Antisemitism Lab, brings together leading scholars and practitioners to examine contemporary antisemitism.

Episode 4’s guest is Dr. Laurence Rickels, author and professor of psychoanalysis, German, literature, and art and theory. Dr. Rickels’ work focuses on psychoanalytic readings of diverse topics, such as vampirism, California, and National Socialism.

Dr. Hughes and Dr. Rickels explore the Nazi regime’s use of psychoanalysis, the ways psychological knowledge can be weaponized through propaganda, and the role of archives in confronting antisemitism today.
