Teacher Training Seminar on Ukrainian Famine of 1932-1933, Ukraine, February 19-20, 2010
Thirty-one teachers from 22 regions of Ukraine attended a national teacher training seminar on the use of a new multimedia resource, Ukrainian Famine of 1932-1933. Human Dimension of the Tragedy. The kit was produced by the USC Shoah Foundation Institute for Visual History and Education, and authored by Oleksandr Voytenko. During the seminar, educators had the opportunity to advance their professional qualification, acquaint with pedagogical aspects of working with the manual, and develop skills of using video testimonies from the Institute Visual History Archive. Organized by the Shoah Foundation Institute, the seminar took place in Kyiv, on February 19-20, 2010, at the premises of Interdisciplinary Judaic Studies Program of the National University Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. Professor Stanislav Kulchitsky, one of the leading Great Famine scholars in Ukraine; Yevhen Zakharov, a Co-Director of Kharkiv Human Rights Group; and Anna Lenchovska, Institute Consultant in Ukraine, spoke during the event; Oleksandr Voytenko conducted working sessions.
