IWitness celebrated a milestone in March: the most registrations ever in a single month. The milestone comes at a busy time for IWitness.

​Once students have put the finishing touches on their videos and submitted them to their teachers, it’s time to start judging.

Today is the last day for educators to submit their students’ work to the 2016 IWitness Video Challenge. This year’s Challenge, the third annual contest, has already received a record number of applicants from across North America.

The regional finalists of the IWitness Video Challenge were inspired by genocide testimony to serve food to the needy, inspire and motivate those who are struggling, honor the elderly and more.

A trio of eighth-graders from New Jersey created a poetry group that has enabled students at their school to express their hardships and appreciation for one another.

The Challenge invites students to positively contribute to their communities, and complete an IWitness activity that involves submitting a short video explaining how they were inspired through testimony to make a positive impact.

This morning, I stood at attention as our select chorus sang the Star Spangled Banner. Looking at the flag in the middle school auditorium, I paused a moment to feel gratitude for growing up in a country where I have the right to define and redefine myself. I grew up believing I could become whoever I wanted to be. The flag stood tall, as did I. Thank goodness, I thought, that I live in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.
