When I was a child growing up in the 1950s, there were certainly political disagreements and the world was never free from conflict and injustice. But there was one thing that was certain – nobody in their right minds wanted to be openly associated with Nazis and anti-Semitism. After the world saw the true horror of the Holocaust in black and white photographs and film, the open hatred of Jews was something only associated with crazy people.
