August 2008—HOLOCAUST:  The Events and Their Impact on Real People, a book for students published by DK Publishing in association with the USC Shoah Foundation Institute, has been selected as a 2009 Teachers' Choice Award winner in the Children's Books category.

HOLOCAUST was written to help young readers understand the circumstances under which the Holocaust occurred and its impact on individuals.  The book contains vivid photographs and other images, and comes with a DVD that includes survivor testimony from the Institute's archive; many pages feature quotes from some of these testimonies.

The Teachers' Choice Awards "honor products of exceptional quality and outstanding performance in the classroom and at home."  The panel of judges consists of teacher evaluators who use each product in the classroom and at home.
