Students and educators have multiple opportunities to learn about USC Shoah Foundation and explore the Visual History Archive at Eötvos Loránd University (ELTE) in Budapest over the next few weeks.

His Excellency Ilan Mor, Israeli Ambassador to Hungary, observed a lesson taught by a Teaching with Testimony in the 21st Century graduate at Berzsenyi Dániel High School, a USC Shoah Foundation partner school in Budapest, Hungary.

Testimony clips of Hungarian Holocaust survivors have been incorporated into a fascinating project out of Budapest: Open Society Archive’s “Yellow-Star Houses” online mapping exhibit.

Attendees of Central European University’s Future of Holocaust Memorialization: Confronting Racism, Antisemitism and Homophobia through Memory Work conference this week had two opportunities to learn about the Visual History Archive from a USC Shoah Foundation teaching fellow and staff.

Hungarian ethics teachers and Polish educators were introduced this spring to IWalk, USC Shoah Foundation’s educational program that combines testimony with real-life locations, and are interested in incorporating it into their teaching.  

One year after learning how to incorporate testimony into their lesson plans, the 2013 Teaching with Testimony in the 21st Century graduates in Hungary returned for a follow-up session to share the lessons they have now piloted in their classrooms.

For the third consecutive year, a new group of teachers gathered in Hungary for the Teaching with Testimony in the 21st Century professional development program to learn how to create their own testimony-based lessons and classroom activities.

The 5th International Conference on Holocaust Research has selected a course at Central European University, developed in part by Andrea Peto, 2013 Teaching Fellow at USC Shoah Foundation, as an exemplary and innovative educational project.
