USC Shoah Foundation Institute Honored alongside Young Filmmakers
What's Your Issue, a nonprofit organization that encourages young people to use creative media to share solutions to social challenges, has honored the USC Shoah Foundation Institute with its 2010 Walter Cronkite Civic Engagement Leadership Award.
Each year, What's Your Issue organizes a film competition for young people ages 14 to 24. Contestants must create a three-minute film on a social issue about which they are passionate, and they must propose a solution. The competition culminates with an awards ceremony and film screening; this year, the awards ceremony took place on the evening of June 26 at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California.
The Walter Cronkite award recognizes "leadership on social activism and innovative solutions to global issues." Talia Cohen, Associate Director of Public Outreach and Communications (pictured above, at center), accepted the award on behalf of the Institute.
