Claudia Ramirez Wiedeman Joins as Educational Program Designer

Claudia Ramirez Wiedeman, PhD, has joined USC Shoah Foundation as Associate Director for Educational Technologies and Training. Her duties include strategic, content, and professional development related to the Institute’s flagship web-based educational tool, IWitness, which is designed to make the Visual History Archive accessible to educators and students around the world.

Wiedeman comes to USC from Whittier College, where she served as an associate professor in the Department of Education & Child Development, as well as coordinator of professional development at the college’s Broadoaks Children’s School. While at Whittier, she also coordinated teacher induction and credentialing programs.

Her specialties include expertise in K-12 teacher education and professional development, literacy and language acquisition, curriculum assessment and design, qualitative research methods, and trans-media literacy. Wiedeman’s work in enhancing teacher education has been awarded grant support from the U.S. Department of Education. She has also written numerous articles and made professional presentations.

Wiedeman serves on the Board of the Weingart East Los Angeles Family YMCA and is also a member of the American Educational Research Association and the California Council on Teacher Education.
