Teacher Seminar, "Using Video Testimony in Education," in Nitra, Slovakia, April 27, 2010

On April 27, 2010, the Holocaust Documentation Center in Bratislava, Slovakia, and the USC Shoah Foundation Institute, conducted a teacher training seminar entitled Using Video Testimony in Education.  During the seminar, teachers explored opportunities of using the Institute's archive on national and regional levels in Slovakia.

Turkish Difficulties Dealing With the Armenian Genocide: Taner Akçam Speaks at USC

On April 26, 2010, the USC Shoah Foundation Institute hosted a speaking engagement by Dr. Taner Akçam, Associate Professor of History, and the Kaloosdian/Mugar Chair in Armenian Genocide Studies at Clark University's Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies.

Dr. Akçam, who spoke about Turkish difficulties dealing with the Armenian Genocide, is one of the first Turkish academics to acknowledge and discuss openly the genocide committed by the Ottoman Turkish government in 1915.

Április 17-én lezárult az a pályázati folyamat, amelynek során a Holokauszt Emlékközpont, az Oktatáskutató és Fejlesztő Intézet és a USC Soá Intézet együttműködésében középiskolai tanárok és tanárcsoportok készítettek multimédiás tananyagokat a Soá Intézet Vizuális Történelmi Archívumában (VHA) található magyar nyelvű interjúk felhasználásával.

Historic Agreement to Preserve Armenian Genocide Survivor Testimonies

On April 13, 2010, the USC Shoah Foundation Institute signed a historic agreement with the Armenian Film Foundation and Dr. J. Michael and Anoinette Hagopian.  The agreement paves the way for the Institute to preserve the Armenian Film Foundation's collection of nearly 400 interviews with survivors and other witnesses of the first major genocide of the 20th Century:  the attempt by the Ottoman Turks to annihilate the Armenian people, in 1915.

International Digital Access, Outreach, and Research Conference 2010

On March 25 and 26, 2010, the USC Shoah Foundation Institute hosted its first international academic conference.

The International Digital Access, Outreach, and Research Conference brought together representatives from 25 universities, museums, and other institutions that have access to the Institute's Visual History Archive, to discuss how it is being used in academia.
