Jan shares how a shopkeeper helped him hide and snuck him a train ticket so he could get farther from the Czech border. The shopkeeper, who was Jewish, said that he helped all refugees whether they were Jewish or not.

Jaroslav describes how a German Army train was blown up right next to the train that was transporting him and other Jews through Czechoslovakia. He made the split-second decision to run up a nearby hillside and escape.

Czech students made original artwork inspired by the following testimony clips for an annual contest in Czech Republic. Several of the students' art were displayed at the 2016 Ambassadors for Humanity Gala in Los Angeles.

The contest is open to all secondary students, asking them to watch clips of testimony from the Visual History Archive and create artistic comic strip-style pieces inspired by the stories they heard.

We at USC Shoah Foundation are saddened to learn about the passing of Marion Pritchard, a Dutch woman of great courage who rescued many Jews during the Holocaust. She was 96.

Emily Bengels is a middle school teacher of Gifted and Talented students at Readington Middle School in New Jersey. She also is in charge of the Enrichment program in her school. Bengels attended the 2015 Auschwitz: The Past is Present professional development program in Poland led by USC Shoah Foundation and Discovery Education to commemorate the 70th anniversary 

Los Angeles, Dec. 27, 2016 – As the United States prepares to inaugurate a new president, USC Shoah Foundation has announced the first 10 testimony-based educational resources for its “100 Days to Inspire Respect,” an IWitness educational program modeled after the aggressive 100-day agenda initiated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt when he took office in 1933.

This morning, I stood at attention as our select chorus sang the Star Spangled Banner. Looking at the flag in the middle school auditorium, I paused a moment to feel gratitude for growing up in a country where I have the right to define and redefine myself. I grew up believing I could become whoever I wanted to be. The flag stood tall, as did I. Thank goodness, I thought, that I live in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

We are sad to learn of the passing of Helen Colin, a Holocaust survivor who had the distinction of being the first survivor to speak on camera after being liberated from the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.

USC Shoah Foundation Managing Director Kim Simon and Director of Education Kori Street are in Bucharest, Romania, this week at the bi-annual plenary meeting of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA).

For six months this spring and summer, I had the pleasure of leading a team of staff and volunteers facilitating the beta run of New Dimensions in Testimony (NDT) from USC Shoah Foundation at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. I watched people of all ages approach the giant monitor displaying an image of Holocaust survivor Pinchas Gutter, first with trepidation, then curiosity, then, at last, affection. Here are a few things that I learned about technology and humanity from the project.
