Leon Leyson remembers working in the Schindler factory as a young boy.

Holocaust survivor Leon Leyson passed away this January, but his story of survival as the youngest boy on Oskar Schindler’s “list” will live on in his new memoir, The Boy on the Wooden Box: How the Impossible Became Possible…on Schindler’s List, which was officially released today.

Presented as part of USC’s Genocide Awareness Week, three events organized by the USC Shoah Foundation Institute will explore artistic responses to genocide, highlighting the ability of creative expression to shine light in the darkness and give voice to silence. The events will reveal the power of the arts to communicate messages of survival and hope in the face of great tragedy. The series is sponsored by the USC Visions and Voices initiative.

Join DEFY Student Organization for an event in honor of Genocide Awareness Month -- a panel discussion with genocide survivors. Guests will include Holocaust survivor Zenon Neumark and Guatemalan genocide survivor Aracely Garrido. 

Discussion begins at 6:00 PM and will be followed by a Q&A with the audience.
