Two senior staff members of the USC Shoah Foundation Institute have traveled to South Africa and Rwanda to meet with partners and explore new relationships and opportunities for collaborative initiatives.

2011 Student Voices Master Class Sponsored by HBO
Dozens of students at USC attended the HBO-sponsored Student Voices Master Class, an event consisting of workshops and panel discussions on testimony-based documentary filmmaking. Academy Award-winning filmmakers shared their expertise at the event, including Michael Apted, whose keynote lecture on ethical documentary filmmaking drew nearly 150 people. more

"Strength Through Adversity: Women and Mass Violence" (International Women's Day, March 8, 2012)
In honor of International Women's Day on March 8, the Institute and The Holocaust and the United Nations Outreach Programme convened a roundtable discussion, "Strength Through Adversity: Women and Mass Violence," at the University of Southern California. The roundtable focused on the capacity of women to overcome adversity and empower others in the face of extreme violence; participants included women survivors of recent conflicts in Central Africa and Eastern Europe. more
