In honor of International Women’s Day on 8 March 2012, the University of Southern California Shoah Foundation Institute is partnering with The Holocaust and the United Nations Outreach Programme to hold a roundtable discussion, “Strength Through Adversity: Women and Mass Violence”, in Los Angeles.
(LOS ANGELES, CA, March 1, 2012) – “Don’t Let Their Voices Be Forgotten” is the message that the USC Institute of Armenian Studies’ Leadership Council is sending as it invites a cross section of highly respected community leaders and benefactors to a gala banquet on April 15, 2012, in honor of the USC Shoah Foundation Institute for championing the Armenian Genocide Digitization Project.
On February 14, Holocaust survivor Pinchas Gutter participated in a prototype interview for New Dimensions in Testimony, an initiative to record and display 3D interactive testimonies that will preserve the dialogue between Holocaust survivors and learners far into the future. Gutter's interview was part of the New Dimensions in Testimony seminar (February 13-15), which brought together Holocaust survivors, technologists, and leaders of museums and memorial institutions from around the world. On February 10-11, the USC Shoah Foundation hosted a two-day event devoted to a multi-faceted inquiry of memory and its manifestations in individual and public life. Sponsored by The Dornsife Commons, the event was led by USC Shoah staff member Dr. Dan Leshem.
On February 7, 2012, from 10 a.m.to 4 p.m., the USC Shoah Foundation hosted an event entitled Witness and Responsibility, in the Doheny Memorial Library. The day-long event focused on artistic work that engages with catastrophe and events—personal and world-wide—which challenge our sense of how things ought to be. The event was a part of the Association for Jewish Theatre's four-day international conference in Los Angeles, Reflecting and Shaping a Shifting World.
U příležitosti Mezinárodního dne památky holocaustu byly českým učitelům ve dnech 24. až 26. ledna v rámci unikátního pilotního programu představeny vzdělávací materiály vytvořené čtyřmi institucemi: experti z Jad Vašem, Vzdělávacího a kulturního centra Židovského muzea v Praze, Památníku Terezín a USC Shoah Foundation společně s místními aktivisty představili vzdělávací materiály a další pomůcky vytvořené jejich organizacemi. Seminář navštívil tři města v pohraničí: Ústí nad Labem, Klášterec nad Ohří, a Varnsdorf.
