Suzy Ressler, a survivor of Auschwitz who parlayed her family’s old-world recipes into the Philadelphia-based Mrs. Ressler’s Food Products, died July 3, 2021, at the age of 93.

She was remembered for her business savvy, her warmth and generosity, and her impeccable elegance.

Join USC Shoah Foundation and the Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center for a digital ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the new Dimensions in Testimony exhibit, a new, permanent exhibit at Union Terminal that utilizes artificial-intelligence technology to facilitate “virtual conversations” with Holocaust survivors.
Dr. Kori Street, Deputy Executive Director of USC Shoah Foundation, talks with psychiatrist Dr. Robert Krell about how the Holocaust has impacted multiple generations of families and the importance of capturing testimonies from remaining survivors.
The online discussion will bring together experts to consider the issue of medical ethics during, and in response to, the Holocaust. Panelists will discuss educational initiatives that draw on the history of the Holocaust to develop ethical leadership in a contemporary context.
We will explore the history behind the exhibits, discuss the nature of memory and memorials, and discover how the world remembers the Shoah and honors the lives we lost. We will also explore how that memory is interconnected to genocides, both past and present.

Sara R. Horowitz, Professor of Comparative Literature and Jewish Studies at York University and an esteemed scholar of the Holocaust, has been named the 2020-2021 Sara and Asa Shapiro Scholar in Residence at the USC Shoah Foundation Center for Advanced Genocide Research. She will deliver a public lecture and spend over a week in residence at the Center in March 2022.

USC Shoah Foundation welcomes the creation of California Governor Gavin Newsom’s Council on Holocaust and Genocide Education.

USC Shoah Foundation Finci-Viterbi Executive Director Stephen Smith, who in May offered expert testimony in support of the Council’s creation, said the group will play a critical role in arresting the current decline in awareness about the Holocaust and other acts of genocide among young people.
